The Depot ground-breaking ceremony will be held this evening at 5:30 PM — rain or shine! We currently have a tent on the property. In the case of severe weather, we will host the ceremony inside the Old Town Playhouse Studio Theatre at the Depot (behind the Soup Cup).
**Habitat and HomeStretch will be hosting a light reception at the Filling Station immediately following the ground breaking ceremony. We hope you will join us!**
Please consider making a donation and help the Depot Neighborhood become a reality. Your contribution helps us build homes and hope for the Grand Traverse Region; your generosity is truly appreciated!
Ground breaking has been announced to occur this May for the highly anticipated Depot Neighborhood, an energy-efficient, affordable housing community made possible by Habitat for Humanity-Grand Traverse Region in partnership with HomeStretch Non-Profit Housing Corporation.
Mark Your Calendars: The Depot Neighborhood Ground Breaking This May 20th!
The Depot Neighborhood will bring the reality of sustainable, net-zero housing to qualified Habitat-GTR Families. Building to energy-efficient standards means a savings of up to $1500 for Habitat Homeowners. Families living in one of the 10 net-zero units could see their energy bills decrease to mere pennies a year because their homes will produce the same amount of energy that they consume each month.
The Depot Neighborhood is located right in the heart of Traverse City on the Corner of Eighth Street and Woodmere Avenue, adjacent to the former train depot.

NMC Business 231 Students partner with Habitat for Humanity, GTR. We have joined forces and are working together to build homes and hope….
We are the Northwestern Michigan College's Business 231 students. Our objective is to promote awareness and collect resources for the Habitat for Humanity Depot Neighborhood.
“NMC is proud to organize this event that provides our students an important hands-on learning experience that will enrich their coursework,” said Kristy McDonald, Business Communications Instructor. “It also provides an opportunity to serve the community.”
Anyone can recycle an aluminum can or an empty shampoo bottle, but what about a model house using these materials? Northwestern Michigan College business students, in partnership with the Habitat for Humanity Grand Traverse Region's new affordable housing Depot Neighborhood, are hosting the Habitat Home Challenge on April 6 at the Grand Traverse Mall. Model houses created for this event will be displayed for a friendly competition. There will be prizes, additional public displays, and all donations help the Depot Neighborhood come to life.

Thank you to everyone who helped out with our Kingsley Project. Working together, we were able to help Harold and Nicole Wazny fulfill their dream of home ownership. Not only has the family helped build their very own home, they have also helped improve their lives and build hope for a brighter future. One where they can raise their beautiful family; Lily, Trenton, and Parker, and watch them grow.
Thank you for your continued support in helping us achieve our mission of Building Homes and Building Hope.
